About Marc P. Pietropaoli

Recognized as one of the leading sports medicine and orthopedic surgeons in Upstate New York, Marc P. Pietropaoli, MD, is the founder of Victory Sports Medicine & Orthopedics in Skaneateles, New York.

A native of Rochester, New York, Dr. Pietropaoli graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology at Syracuse University. He earned his medical degree at the State University of New York at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, graduating summa cum laude and valedictorian of his class. He stayed at Upstate Medical University for his orthopedic surgery residency before completing his fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, under the guidance of world-renowned sports medicine surgeons James R. Andrews, MD, and William G. Clancy, MD. Dr. Andrews has worked with world-class athletes, including Mariano Rivera, Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Roger Clemens, and Drew Brees.

At Victory Sports Medicine & Orthopedics, the mission is to “One-up the Golden Rule” by the staff treating patients better than they would treat themselves. Using an integrated, communicative team approach, the practice has helped numerous patients and athletes return to their active lifestyles, offering a variety of sports medicine services and nonsurgical treatments, including joint injections and platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Dr. Pietropaoli always begins with non-operative/conservative treatments first, but if surgery is necessary, Dr. Pietropaoli can perform ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, Tommy John surgery and many other surgeries. In addition, with knee injuries, he always aims for “Knee Repair, Not Knee Replacement ™”. His 22 years of experience combined with new, cutting edge techniques makes him a leading surgeon in minimally invasive procedures.

Dr. Pietropaoli is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, American Medical Association, and Medical Society of the State of New York. He is a past vice president of the Cayuga County Medical Society and the former secretary of the American Sports Medicine Institute Fellowship Society. Dr. Pietropaoli has given numerous presentations on specialized musculoskeletal injuries in athletes, advanced orthopedic surgical procedures, and the importance of injury prevention.

Dr. Pietropaoli is involved with many university medical and health programs and has served as a team physician for local high schools, colleges and professional teams. In addition, he is and has been active with numerous sports organizations in the area, including Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Youth Football. Dr. Pietropaoli has worked with the Houston Astros, Toronto Blue Jays and Washington Nationals as the team physician for the Auburn Doubledays since 1998.

In his spare time, Dr. Pietropaoli likes spending time with his family, cooking and playing sports with his kids. He is an avid musician, fisherman, and gardener, and enjoys golf and running marathons.
